Dear parents,
Unfortunately we had to cancel our field study today to Inglewood Bird Sanctuary. This trip will be rescheduled for the New Year. Parents, you are invited to join us at 9:20am tomorrow morning to sing along with some of our favourite Christmas songs. On Thursday, December 21st, we will also have the choir perform during our morning carolling. On Thursday, December 21st, students are invited to wear red and green. Today we continued our research projects and also rewrote the song "12 Days of Christmas". The students picked one of the countries we are researching and wrote a different version of the song according to the customs and traditions of the country they chose.

Dear parents,
We are getting prepared for our upcoming field study to Inglewood Bird Sanctuary on Wednesday. We now have enough volunteers for this trip. Thank you to all those who have contacted the office! The weather is predicted to be cold and snowy. We will be spending some time outdoors during this trip so please have your children dress in layers, with suitable footwear for walking in the snow. They should pack a lunch and 2 snacks. Thursday is the Winter Solstice! If any parents are willing to send in some healthy snacks for that afternoon please let me know. We will be doing some fun learning activities in the later part of the day. Friday there is no school for students. Dear parents,
Please remember to send in the forms for our upcoming trip on December 20 to the bird sanctuary. Last week and this week we have been looking at artifacts from the 4 countries we are learning about. We have an artifact kit from Fort Calgary. Ask your child some of the items they have seen so far. Our poem this week was a children's song from Peru call The Little Chicks. We learned the song in English and Spanish. We have been learning about time in Math. We started a new bridge project. Ask your child which bridge they will be researching. Please continue to send in Food Bank and diaper donations! Thanks! Dear parents,
Please remember tomorrow is no school for students due to a PD day for teachers. Thank you to all of those who have sent in classroom supplies. We have received toothpicks, glue gun glue sticks, toilet paper rolls and even white board markers! Currently we still need: pom poms black felt ribbon Yesterday in math we worked on a problem involving telling time. You can help at home by having an analog clock at home and discussing time with your children. We have a Social Studies kit from Fort Calgary that includes artifacts from the different countries we are researching. Ask you child what they saw today! We are starting a new bridge project that will continue after the winter break. Please continue to send in diaper and food bank donations. Thanks! Dear parents,
What an amazing day we spent at the Calgary Zoo yesterday. And thank you to all the parents volunteers who joined us to make this day possible. We participated in a program about plants. The students did experiments to study seed dispersal. They used microscopes to look at compost. They dissected a flower and learned about the male and female parts. They also compared different kinds of plants and learned about the structure of a forest. Today your child will be bringing home a form for our next field trip. Room 4 and 5 will be going to the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary on December 20th. This was originally listed for December 19, however we had to modify the dates due to bussing. This field trip will take place from approximately 9:30- 1:30. Please contact the office if you are available. Thanks! Dear parents,
Choir will be performing on Thursday, December 21 at 9:20 am. We have decided to wear green and red on top. Any color on the bottom. We hope you can join us! Students received a Diaper Drive form today in their backpacks. Please take out and read. Thank you to all of those who have sent in glue guns and glue gun glue! It was much needed for our design challenge! We have started to do some research and non-fiction writing. The students have picked a topic they are interested in and have formulated questions about their topic. You can asked them what topic they picked and what is a level 1, 2, 3 question. Our Calgary Zoo field trip is on Monday. We have enough volunteers for this trip. Please make sure your child has a lunch, two snacks and proper footwear for walking outside. They should dress in layers as some of our time will be spent outdoors. Have a great weekend! |
