The bedding is supposed to be as moist as a rung out sponge but the bin is supposed 60% to 90% water content. If you don't have a sponge, you can get a new bag of soil (unopened) and feel how moist the soil has to be.
Red wigglers like rich soil that is not to dry but not to moist. You usually get red wigglers for composting. So they really have no habitat.

The temperature in the bin should be around 72 F or 22 C and no lower or higher then they are happy :)
Do They Live In Other Habitats Then Vermipost? |
They are unlikely to live under ground and sometimes gardens or land fils but they would be more likely be in vermipost.
