Dear parents,
Tomorrow we will be having our grade 4 farewell assembly at 11:00 and afternoon activities to follow. We would ask that guests in that assembly be limited to family of our grade 4 students. With limited seating we are unable to accommodate more people and we want to ensure seating if available for families of our grade 4 students. Following the assembly, the grade 4's will be walking to Carburn park for a pizza picnic lunch and a scavenger hunt. The students can bring a change of clothes for the walk and scavenger hunt if they want to wear something more formal to the assembly. The grade 4's will need to bring a water bottle. The grade 3's will be doing activities at the school with other supervising teachers.

Dear parents,
In room 5 this week we have been making posters to inform others of the importance of worms! On this poster the students had to complete a detailed, labelled diagram, list 4 adaptations, one fun fact about worms and 2 ways worms help the earth. They could also do a rap or poem for bonus points. Ask your child what they included in their poster. Please return all library books and any classroom books your child may have at home in preparation for the end of the year. For grade 4 students, we will be having our grade 4 farewell on Tuesday, June 26th. Weather permitting, we will walk with the Grade 4's to Carburn Park for pizza and a scavenger hunt. Grade 3's will be doing activities back at the school. This week in math, we have been working on division. The students have all been very motivated to attempt long division problems. Please have your child work on their multiplication facts in order to make the division process quicker and easier! We are having the talent show, this afternoon (Thursday) at 1:30 and Friday June 22 at 12:00. You should have received a notice to inform you if your child is performing. The last day of school is Wednesday, June 27th. The students will be dismissed at 1:20. Dear parents,
Active living day is scheduled for tomorrow, weather permitting. Please have your child wear clothes they can be active in and a water bottle. Let's hope the rain stays away!! Dear parents,
It is a busy time at Maple Ridge school! We have been busy learning about how worms help the earth. Last week we did an experiment to see if worms like light or dark environments. Ask your child how they tested this question. We also learned about the body parts of the worm and what kind of food it likes best. Some of our worms are very acrobatic! Weather permitting, this Friday is Active Living Day. We are incorporating a STEM theme into this year's event. This is our last week to visit the library at school. ALL BOOKS MUST BE RETURNED FRIDAY JUNE 15th. We also have been learning about how to make our writing more interesting by using figurative language. We have learned about alliteration, personification, simile and metaphor. Dear parent,
Just a quick update that tomorrow, Friday, June 8th is Pajama Day for room 5! Students are allowed to wear pajamas and bring a reasonably sized stuffy. Please remember it will be a warm day. Cooler materials are preferred. Dear parents,
Our Heart to Heart Market was a success!! The students did amazing and our class alone raised $163.25 alone, for the Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society. Thanks to all the parents who supported this event! Our class has been working hard to earn points this earn. They have been trying to stay on task, focus on their work, cooperate with others and be respectful. I am proud to say they have earned themselves a reward of their choice. And the vote was to have a pajama and stuffy day. This will be held on June 8th. Today we did some Social Studies. We learned about the natural regions in India, Tunisia, Peru and Ukraine. We learned that a region has different climate and landscapes. We also learned about the term "monsoon" and "landslide" and "steppe" We are postponing our spelling test until Monday June 4th. We have our last field trip of the year on Tuesday June 5th to Telus Spark. |
